PARKLANE OFFERS A EUROPEAN TOUR:

Lena Leitzke
Venice

First stop Venice, as Lena Leitzke explores the always enchanting canals and beautiful architecture of this timeless city in her show Eternal Mystery. Lena sings the song of perfection that is Venice with her oil and acrylic paintings that take you to a place of mystery and romance, of elegance and antiquity, of light’s reflections on color splashed movement through water, and of shadows cast in secret places. Lena’s paintings take you on a journey you never tire of gazing upon and visiting time and again.

Sonja Morgan
Gondolas of the Grand Canal

Next, we visit Europe’s Usual sights in Unusual Lights, with photography by Sonja Morgan.

In May, Sonja set off to travel Europe and create a photographic record of her journey. Playing off lights, and using metallic printed images as well as black and white, Sonja’s photographs are a new look at “old world” views of many of Europe’s iconic places. Sonja also explores the abstract with her selection of old doors, faded paint, and ignored areas of some of the most beautiful places in Europe. Sonja’s photography is a reminiscence seen from another perspective and an inspiration to take your own special look at Europe.

COMING THIS FALL:
September 7 - October 3

And The Journey Goes On with works by abstract water media painter Susanne Werner, as she uses color, texture and shape to visually describe her travels, from the exotic to the everyday.
Jerry Baldwin uses gouache and pastels with his theme Earth Garden.

INTRODUCING: Karen Dedrickson

Karen DiedricksonPainting a landscape’s beautiful moments is my inspiration. I look for the patterns of light and the shapes of shadows, especially a day’s beginning or end. The challenge is to paint simply and with freshness that conveys my emotions for these transient moments. The places chosen are ordinary, just off the road or from around my neighborhood. It is the hour I chose that make these arenas extraordinary. My reward is capturing the ephemeral with paint.

For something completely different I paint birds in the style of Sumi-e maybe with a mix of pastel. Their simple shapes and attitudes with limited color come from my intuition. A unique prize seems to land, like these birds, when I get out of my way. It still surprises me, results are a humble release of play and skill.
