Her work has been exhibited in juried shows in Anacortes, and Gig Harbor, Washington. Shortly after these shows, she gave birth to a son, in 2005. A stay-at-home mom during the day, Angela has been finding time to do her art and begin to show her work again. She is currently represented by the Parklane Gallery in Kirkland, Washington, and is part a three-generational show entitled "Three Generations of Art" with her grandmother and aunt in the Gibsons Public Art Gallery, Gibsons B.C. Canada starting in March 2009. Angela makes her home in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and
their son. artist statementTo me, portraits are much more than simply a likeness, they are an opportunity to capture a glimpse into the lives of the people around us. These people come to life on paper first, then canvas. I use perspective, composition and color as tools to tell the story. Subjects in my paintings are outlined with bright, modern colors. These colors are chosen to create a balance and enhance skin tone, setting and emotional story. My job as an artist is to simply translate the beauty so that we all might be inspired. --Angela Hoskins |
